Early Childhood Community Services

(Birth to 5-year-olds)

Goals

The goal of Cantalician Center for Learning's Early Childhood Community Services is to provide comprehensive and family-centered evaluations of children who are suspected of having learning difficulties, speech and language delays, sensory motor disorders, behavior problems or motor delays, as well as to provide a variety of direct therapeutic and educational services to children ages birth to 5.

Early Intervention

Comprehensive multidisciplinary developmental evaluations (MDEs) for Erie County for children ages birth to 3-years-old, to include: medical review, gross motor, fine motor, cognitive, social-emotional, communication, adaptive self/help and behavior.

Supplemental developmental evaluations in areas of specific identification for Erie and Niagara Counties including: gross motor (Physical Therapy), fine motor/sensory processing (Occupational Therapy), Cognitive (Special Education), Social-emotional/behavior (Special Education) and communication (Speech pathologists).

Direct therapeutic or educational services in homes, daycares, PreKs, Headstart programs etc.: Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Speech Therapy, special instruction, family training, and parent/child play groups.

Preschool

Comprehensive evaluations as requested by local Erie and Niagara County school districts for children ages 3-5 years of age, to include: a social history, educational psychological, medical review, gross motor, fine motor, cognitive, social-emotional, communication and adaptive self/help and behavior.

Supplemental evaluations in areas of specific identification including: gross motor (PT), fine motor/sensory processing (OT), Cognitive (Spec Educ.), Social-emotional/behavior (Spec Educ.) and communication (Speech pathologists).

Direct individual, therapeutic services (occupational therapy, physical therapy, and speech therapy) in homes, daycares, PreKs, Headstart programs etc.

Cantalician Center for Learning is available to help families make referrals to their county's Early Intervention Program or to the school district's Committee on Preschool Special Education.
