Parent Training

Parent Training & Counseling is a service that may be mandated on a student's IEP or IFSP. Regulation § 300.34(c)(8), Parent Training & Counseling, ensures that parents receive the training that they need to acquire skills that will help them support the implementation of their child's IEP or IFSP. This includes, but is not limited to, assisting parents in understanding the special needs of their child, and providing parents with information about child development respectively. This requirement was added to the 1999 regulations to recognize the more active role of the parents as participants in the education of their children.

At Cantalician, we offer a number of ways to fulfill this requirement. These include:

- Individualized trainings offered every quarter
- Team meetings
- One on one consultation with a specialist in the area of concern (behavior, speech. OT, PT, etc.)
- Written information regarding your child's diagnosis and progress
- Daily or weekly updates arranged with the teacher or specialist

Please contact our School Behavior Coordinators at 901-8870 to schedule an appointment to discuss your needs.
