Adapted Physical Education Teacher Biographies

David McLhinney, P.E. Teacher

 

David McLhinney has been working at the Cantalician Center since 2019. Prior to his arrival, he grew up in Ohio and taught Physical Education for 13 years in Maryland. Mr. McLhinney is excited to teach the students new and exciting lifelong activities they could play at home or in the community and loves the positive atmosphere in the school.

 

Mr. McLhinney graduated from Muskingum University with a B.S. in Physical Education and McDaniel College with a M.S. in Curriculum and Instruction. 

Outside of Cantalician Center, Mr. McLhinney enjoys spending time with his family, watching and attending sport events, going to concerts, and exploring WNY.

 

Coleen Rausch, P.E. Teacher

Coleen Rausch has been working at the Cantalician Center since 2018. She graduated from The College at Brockport with a M.S. in Health and Adapted Physical Education.

Miss Rausch values the importance of teaching every student to lead active healthy lives. She strives to offer activities that every student can take an interest in and looks for innovative approaches to allow maximum participation for each student.

Outside of teaching, Miss Rausch enjoys spending time with her dogs, coaching soccer and playing volleyball.


 

Cortney Sobowiec, P.E. Teacher

Cortney Sobowiec has been working with the Cantalician Center since 2014. She graduated from Canisius College with a B.S. in Health and Physical Education.

Ms. Sobowiec is committed to consistently providing innovative instructional approaches which respond to the student's growth as individuals.

Ms. Sobowiec's philosophy as an educator and role model is the belief that every child has the ability to learn in a supportive educational environment. Her goal is to create a positive learning experience that communicates with multiple learning styles, and nurtures the unique gifts and potential of each student. As a result, she believes the students will gain knowledge, self-esteem, responsibility and independent thinking skills to create an everlasting healthy, and active lifestyle.
